Using Camtasia to Make an mp3 File - Overkill?

It seems Camtasia can be used in a pinch to create an mp3 file. It does provide options for controlling the quality and size of the output which I might want to use.

There are a lot of options for me at this point. I made another mp3 file using the Win Movie Maker and then converted it to mp3. I also tried the Sound Forge Studio and it had many features for editing that could be useful. I'm not sure yet which recorders and players I would use in my own classes.
